Job opportunities for dental assistants are expected to grow by 31 percent in the coming decade, much faster than the average for all occupations. That isn’t a surprise to Dr. Robert Limosnero and Dr. Sandhya Krishan, of Chairside Dental Assisting (CDA) of Carrollton, who offer a 10-week, 80-hour course on Saturdays to teach the skills needed
for the job.
As practicing dentists, Limosnero and Krishan understand the benefit of acquiring real-world experience. By having practicing dentists and experienced dental assistants involved in the curriculum, CDA teaches core concepts in a real dental office with a focus on hands-on, one-on-one based teaching. “We chose to keep classes to no more than 10 to 12 students per session,” says Krishan.
The program is approved by the Texas Workforce Commission and is licensed and regulated through the Texas State Board. The program includes textbook and workbook lecture material, lab materials, a set of scrubs, clinical hands-on training, TSBDE certification for radiology, infection control and jurisprudence, and job placement assistance.
Students receive a certificate of completion, and tuition includes the state licensing exam to obtain a registered dental assistant license. Fall class registration starts September 20.
