Inflammation can be the precursor to many chronic diseases, including cancer, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure. Shambhala Wellness, in Denton, has begun offering thermography, or thermal imaging, as an effective way to detect inflammation in the early stages, allowing an individual to recognize health conditions and proactively detect concerns, improving chances for longevity and good health.
Thermography measures the body surface temperature and creates a digitized image. Because the body is normally thermally symmetrical, thermal asymmetries can indicate problems within the body. As 90 to 120 body points are scanned, organs and tissue including the head, breast, neck, chest, stomach, back and limbs are measured. Inflammation may signal abnormalities with the sinus, lymph, pancreas, gallbladder, kidneys, teeth and gums, spinal column, digestive system and thyroid.
A report is provided, along with recommendations and priorities of treatment. Thermography can be performed on men, women and children age 8 and up. The scan is noninvasive and does not emit any harmful radiation.
During the month of July, Natural Awakenings North Texas readers receive $50 off the regular price of a thermograph. An appointment is required.
