Salt Escape, in Plano, the first halotherapy (salt therapy) center in Texas, is celebrating its third anniversary by adding massage therapy and yoga (performed in the adult salt room) to help provide even more health healing benefits. According to owner Jim Rizutto, “Salt therapy has been used for centuries and is very popular in Europe and around the world, with steady growth in the United States.”
Salt therapy does not have negative interactions with most medications and can be used by adults, children and even infants to ease symptoms associated with ailments from allergies to respiratory disorders. There is a tranquil room with zero-gravity recliners for adults, and a second room set up like a sandy beach, where children can enjoy playing while they breathe in the salt-infused air.
Some clients may be able to pay for halotherapy using health insurance flexible spending accounts when it is prescribed a doctor.
