The 23rd annual award-winning Denton Redbud Festival, presented by Keep Denton Beautiful, will take place on April 23 at the Denton Civic Center. In observance of Arbor Day, the festival features dozens of vendor booths with plant sales, home improvement products and local/handmade crafts. There will be a tree giveaway, Kids Zone with bounce houses, face painting, a live TRASHion Runway Show at noon, educational workshops and live music performances throughout the day.
Denton libraries will host a special tree-themed story time for young children and their caregivers, starting at 11 a.m. The first 50 children to arrive will receive a copy of the children’s book The Happiness Tree. The Denton Tree Initiative, a city- wide partnership between Keep Denton Beautiful and the city of Denton, proposes to plant 12,000 trees by 2019.
