Race Benefits North Texas Cat Rescue

The Melon Dash 5K, part of the Run Project, a race series that benefits local causes, will be held August 3. A portion of the proceeds from the run will be help support the North Texas Cat Rescue, a local organization committed to the humane and compassionate treatment of felines.

The course for the 5K race starts at the Chestnut Square Farmers’ Market in downtown

McKinney, showcasing the charm of the town and its shady, historic district streets. Race participants are greeted at the finish with cool towels, sprinklers and refreshments. A sponsor village offers goodies including live music, food and beer. Participants will have the opportunity to stroll through the farmers’ market at the conclusion of the race.

The race is limited to 1400 runners. Packet pickup begins at 7 a.m. The fun run starts at 7:45, followed by the 5K at 8:15. Awards will be presented at 9:15.
