McKinney’s Oktoberfest on the historic downtown square will take place from September 26 to 28, offering authentic German music, food and drink, traditional costumes, dancing, children’s activities, Bavarian gifts and more.
No Oktoberfest celebration would be complete without ample amounts of German beverages and cuisine, so the beer garden now covers 14 blocks, enabling attendees to enjoy a Bavarian beer in one hand and a bratwurst in the other. Food and drink vendors contribute a percentage of their income to event organizer McKinney Main Street to raise money for Home for the Holidays, the community Christmas festival held each November.
Nonstop activities and entertainment on all three days of the festival include barrel races and activities, a petting zoo, the Okoberfest train and the annual running of the dachshunds in the Weenie Dog Races. Dancers and musicians, including the Grammy Award-winning Brave Combo, will entertain the crowds from two stages, offering traditional German folks dances and polka music.
