Maize Days Celebration

Celebrating Murphy’s history as a farming community, the annual Murphy Maize Days event will be held September 28, at the Murphy Municipal Complex, in Murphy. The festival spans more than 30 acres of the city municipal complex, with activities that include live music, a 5K and one-mile Fun Run, car show,

karaoke contest, pet adoptions and micro-chipping, rides, inflatables and a Kid Zone area with two tents filled with family-friendly activities. Vendor booths in the Maize Market, offer items from handmade crafts and art to food and beverages.

The Murphy’s A-Maize-ing 5K and Fun Run begins with the one-mile Fun Run at 8 a.m., followed by the 5K at 8:30. Runs begin and end at the Kimbrough Stadium. An awards ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Admission is free. Festival hours are from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with a fireworks finale at 8 p.m. Admission and parking is free, with shuttle buses running from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
