Letter from Publisher; December 2013

As the year winds to a close and we anticipate the birth of a New Year, we have crossed the threshold of our fourth year of publishing Natural Awakenings North Texas. It’s been such an exciting journey that has passed so quickly. I’ve learned so much; from the information provided by our wonderful advertising partners letter from publisherwho are so dedicated in helping others live better in all aspects of their lives, to you, the reader, who has forged the path this magazine as taken.

We are so blessed to have your readership and support and we look forward to working diligently in continuing to bring you content and resources that help you live better, celebrate life and appreciate the interconnectedness of all things.

My hopes are that you will find the time this holiday season to truly relax and enjoy the company of friends and loved ones. This beautiful poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1863) reminds us that no matter what may seem to drown out peace and joy in our own life or in the collective, we can always rise back up and overcome, and if we persevere, choose to find the joy in everyday life, especially if we join together.

Christmas Bells

I heard the bells on Christmas Day

Their old, familiar carols play

And wild and sweet

The words repeat

Of peace on Earth, goodwill to men!

And thought how, as the day had come,

The belfries of all Christendom

Had rolled along

The unbroken song

Of peace on Earth, goodwill to men!

Till, ringing, singing on its way,

The world revolved from night to day,

A voice, a chime,

A chant sublime

Of peace on Earth, goodwill to men!

Then from each black, accursed mouth

The cannon thundered from the South,

And with the sound

The carols drowned

Of peace on Earth, goodwill to men!

It was as if an earthquake rent

The hearthstones of a continent,

And made forlorn

The households born

Of peace on Earth, goodwill to men!

And in despair I bowed my head;

“There is no peace on Earth,” I said:

“For Hate is strong,

And mocks the song

Of peace on Earth, goodwill to men!”

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:

“God is not dead; nor doth He sleep!

The Wrong shall fail,

The Right prevail,

With peace on Earth, goodwill to men!

Wishing you and your loved ones a peace-filled and joyous holiday season.
