Kids Learn Valuable STEM Skills at Summer Camp

NB_Camp Invention-MARCH2014-Cuyahoga-12-adjCamp Invention is a week-long summer adventure with activities that explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation scheduled on different weeks throughout North Texas, including Frisco, The Colony, Prosper, McKinney, Lewisville, Allen, Flower Mound, Fairview, Dallas, Wylie, Garland, Southlake and Irving. Children work together to seek solutions to real-world problems and sharpen critical learning skills while rotating through several fascinating modules. Local educators facilitate program modules and enthusiastic high school and college students serve as leadership interns to ensure that one staff member is in place for every eight children.

In the Crickobot module, children build their own DIY solar-powered cricket. Boys and girls learn about physics as they build a cricket-sized trampoline, seesaw and tire swing. Modules include I can invent: Maker Studio; The Lab: Where Pigs Fly; and Epic Park. They will learn about reverse-engineering, coding, electronics, animal science and make energy-conscious blueprints for a sustainable eco-park.
