Grounded in the belief that educating children is imperative, IKEA stores over the past 10 years have been committed to supporting the Soft Toy for Education campaign, which runs through December to January 4, 2014. During this period, the IKEA Foundation will donate $1.34 (approx. one euro) to UNICEF and Save the Children for each purchase of an IKEA soft toy, IKEA Delivering More Than Toys including fairytale character stuffed animals and a book that was written based on the soft toy characters. Donations in 2012 totaled more than $12 million, giving children in developing countries access to a quality education.
In addition to the worldwide campaign, the Dallas IKEA store in Frisco will provide a drop bin at the exit to collect toys for The Samaritan Inn of McKinney, a local charity that serves Collin County’s homeless. Should the Frisco store collect 3,000 or more toys, the store will provide an additional donation of $1,000 cash to The Samaritan Inn program, which teaches self-sufficiency and life skills to assist the needs of individuals and families before, during and after a homeless situation.
