The Lakewood Brewing Company, in Garland, will play host to a fundraiser from noon to 6 p.m., April 10, for Unbridled Horse Therapy, a new local nonprofit organization that offers therapeutic horseback riding programs for special needs children and adults. There will be pony rides between 1 and 4 p.m. at the company’s tap room.
The equine therapy program, which is located in Flower Mound, matches up special needs children and adults with a skilled instructor and a horse, and guides them through steps that help improve cognitive and physical development.
Unbridled Horse Therapy, which opened to the public in February, hopes to fill the void in the community that was created when Spirit Horse, which served more than 300 children a week, closed its doors. A group of dedicated instructors decided to keep it mission going by creating Unbridled Horse Therapy.
Cost is $20 for adults, includes two beers and a commemorative glass while supplies last; kids are free. Event location: 2302 Executive Dr., Garland. For more information, visit UnbridledHorseTherapy.com.
