Gary Burns’ Legacy of Love Lives On

nb_gary-burns-fun-run-2-adjThe Frisco Education Foundation Gary Burns Annual Fun Run, a one-mile fun run/walk and 5K certified race, will take place on October 29 at Toyota Stadium. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m., the 1K race begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K at 9 a.m. There will be food, entertainment and other family-friendly activities.

The event is named for former Frisco Assistant Fire Chief Gary Burns, who died of colon cancer in 1999. Burns, known for his support of students, often donated clothing, athletic equipment, money, meals and time to help less fortunate children in our community. Proceeds from the Fun Run benefit scholarship opportunities for Frisco ISD students, including the Gary Burns Memorial Scholarship Fund, and innovative teacher grants that support teaching and learning in the classroom.
