Blessing of the Backpacks

St. Philips Episcopal Church is inviting all kids, parents and teachers to start the school year off blessed, at the Blessing of the Backpacks, September 4, in Frisco. “Blessing of the Backpacks is church like you’ve never experienced it before,” says Debi Nelson, director of Children’s Ministries. “There will be prizes, candy, a high-energy praise band and a short message of encouragement for kids, based on a central Bible theme."

The praise and worship will be led by youth band HeavenTree, featuring the humorous Bentley Brothers. A special appearance with photo opportunities will be available with Clunky the Dalmatian, the children’s ministry mascot.

The event is non-denominational and appropriate for anyone to attend, in celebration of the upcoming school year. “Most important of all, we’ll offer a brief, but powerful prayer for God’s continued blessing throughout the school year, and the kids will receive something to place on their backpack or bag as a reminder of God’s presence in their daily life,” mentions Nelson.

Attendance is free and hours are from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m.

Location: 6400 Stonebrook Pkwy., Frisco. For more info, call 214-387-4700 or visit StPhilipsFrisco.org.
