The three-day annual Plano Balloon Festival will be held from September 20 to 22, at Oak Point Park, in Plano. The weekend event offers hot air balloons, live entertainment, skydivers, a half-marathon, 5K and 1K Fun Run/Walk, a fireworks show, food, crafts and a Kids Fun Zone.
The festival will host around 50 colorful hot air balloons, including a number of special shape
balloons. Several of the balloons will inflate and glow in the dark at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday evening. Balloons launch each evening at 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday mornings at 7 a.m.
The parachute team exhibition performs each afternoon at 5:30 p.m. The fireworks show will take place Saturday at 9 p.m., followed by a concert at 9:30. All race events occur on Sunday, beginning with the half-marathon at 7:30 a.m., the 5K at 7:45 and the 1K at 9. Awards will be presented at 10.
Hours are 4 to 10 p.m., September 20, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., September 21 and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. September 22. General admission tickets are $5; seniors $4; children under 36 inches are admitted free.
